Vanilla (Vanilla planifolia Andrews) has been recognized as one of the ingredients of food flavoring. The source of vanilla comes from South American-origin orchid plant. After being pollinated, the flower will be transformed into a long, green fruit, rich in vanillin, the source of vanilla’s signature flavor.
Vanilla is harvested when reaching maturity and later processed by fermentation and solar drying. The finished product has a distinct dark brown color with a strong vanilla flavor. Vanilla is used as ingredient for food processing.
